Sarah Fahmy

Manager, Strategic Content Alliance

Sarah Fahmy is Manager of the Strategic Content Alliance, in which role she supports the JISC-led initiative working on behalf of the public sector holistically to reduce the technical, political and administrative barriers that impede access to digital content. In this way, the Alliance aims to support the full potential of the web - in the workplace, in places of learning, and in the home- so that the full range of online content is made available to all, quickly, easily and in a form appropriate to individuals' needs.
Under this aegis, Sarah is involved all aspects of digital content creation and management with particular interest in:

  • Sustainability models for digital content
  • Intellectual Property Rights in a digital age
  • Digitisation/ content development strategies
  • Models of innovation to ‘open-up’ digital content

Previous to this role, she worked as a Project Manager of the JISC Collections for Schools initiative which collectively licensed a range of commercial resources enabling schools across the UK to benefit from large discounts through joint purchase.
Sarah has also worked at the Tate Gallery and HarperCollins publishers in the licensing of collections and content and therefore has knowledge of the commercial, private-sector considerations when considering equitable access to digital content.
